🆓 Especially for Me at Discovery Museum

The Especially for Me event series offers dedicated hours and free admission for families with disabilities. During these events, the Museum offers accommodations that increase access to exhibits and provide an opportunity for families to network with one another in an understanding, ADA-compliant environment.  

Autism-Friendly Evening

A special free evening for visitors on the autism spectrum and their families or caregivers. Enjoy a fun, friendly experience in our accessible and universally-designed museum while exploring our interactive exhibits and participating in hands-on activities. Any person who can benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome at this event; a medical diagnosis is not required.

The Museum will be closed to the general public during the event. Discovery Woods is closed for evening events in winter. Dinner, including a gluten-free option, will be provided. 

- October 10 (Saturday, 5-8pm)

Evening for Deaf, Blind, or DeafBlind

A special free evening for children and adults who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision, DeafBlind, KODA, or learning ASL and their caregivers. Enjoy a fun, friendly experience in our accessible and universally designed Discovery Museum and Discovery Woods while exploring interactive exhibits and participating in hands-on activities.

The Museum will be closed to the general public for this event. ASL Interpreters will be available. Dinner, including a gluten-free option, will be provided. 

- December 12 (Saturday, 5-8pm)

Inclusive Afternoon

A free afternoon for visitors who would benefit from a more sensory friendly atmosphere and a limited capacity experience. The Museum will be open to the public, but no group visits will be scheduled to avoid crowding. Advance registration is required.

- September 15; October 6; November 17; December 1 (Tuesdays, 1:30-4:30pm)

Inclusive Evening

A special evening for families that can benefit from a limited capacity visit. The Museum will be closed to the general public, and dinner, including a gluten-free option, will be provided. ASL interpretation may be available upon request. Advance registration is required.

The SEE Science Center is piloting Friendly Hours, a free program to welcome visitors who face barriers to visiting the Museum during regular hours because of sensory or immune issues.

Morningstar Access at Boston Children’s Museum

Boston | $12 (half price) general admission for ages 1+; registration required

Morningstar Access offers children with disabilities or other special/medical needs the opportunity to visit the Museum at a time when there are only a few other visitors. To accommodate various needs, there are two different versions of Morningstar: 

1. Mask Optional Masks are recommended but not required for visitors.

- July 4; August 1 (Saturdays, 8-10am)

- August 14 (Friday, 5-7 pm) - Eveningstar

2. All Masks On! All staff and visitors ages 2 and older are required to wear masks with no exceptions.
